Life is full of tests. Tests are a part of life. In school we had tests to measure our progress and growth in knowledge and understanding. Schools have certain requirements.
When we wanted to drive a car we had to pass a test. Governments have certain requirements. Tests measure whether we appreciate the responsibilities that come with privileges. Driving a car is a privilege that comes with responsibilities. If our driving is impaired because we have been drinking, our licence may even be revoked.
If we want a certain job are want to work in a certain profession, our employer may giveus a test. He has certain requirements for those that work for him. No employer owes us a job. He will give us one if we measure up to certain requirements.
If we want to work as a teacher we must pass certain tests and even our personality has to meet certain requirements. If we might inflict some injury to the students then that profession is not for us.
What is the purpose of tests? Tests, test the desires, motivations, and willingness of what people are and what they want to become. Tests keep out those that are not interested to meet the qualifications for certain privileges.
Life is also a privilege. It comes with requirements. God has certain requirements for those that want to live a long time and that want to live in a New World. He has a right to test future citizens and tests how we are measuring up to the requirements he has deemed important.
Adam and Eve had a simple test when
Abraham’s test was much more difficult as it involved giving up his son. Job lost his ten children, even more difficult. Yet both stayed faithful. They passed the test. They will be brought back to life and along with their children will live in God’s New World.
We are being tested. Everyone is being tested, though the tests may be different. Will we live by God’s requirements? Will we recognize that the requirements are for the good of all and will make us exemplary citizens of God’s New World?
Students study hard to pass their tests. Those who want to drive an automobile will work had to pass the tests. Will we work just as hard to pass any test that God allows to be brought upon us?
Psalm 26:1-3 (NLT) “1 Declare me innocent, O LORD, for I have acted with integrity; I have trusted in the LORD without wavering. 2 Put me on trial, LORD, and cross-examine me. Test my motives and my heart. 3 For I am always aware of your unfailing love, and I have lived according to your truth.”
