Why Is Daily Bible Reading And Meditation Important And Beneficial?

Why is daily Bible reading and meditation so important and so beneficial? What are the important things that must be done each day? What are some important things that we need to do every single day?

Certainly, keeping our body clean, eating nutritious food, some sort of exercise and getting adequate sleep would be important!

Why would these things be important? Because these items are very beneficial for our physical health and well-being!

Now, what things should be done daily to benefit our spiritual well-being?

Would you not agree that prayer, reading the Bible, meditating on the Scriptures and sharing spiritual thoughts with others

are also important matters that should be done each day?

Yes, because these items are very beneficial for our spiritual well-being and to build and maintain a powerful faith!

Would you not agree that a physically and spiritually strong, healthy person can deal much better with the stresses and problems of daily living in this difficult world?

Daily we are confronted with matters that try to weaken and destroy our faith and our Christian way of life. Daily we are confronted with atheistic thinking such as: there is no God, God doesn’t exist, and everything came by itself.

We have the independence mentality and the twisted mentality that we know better than God, that we don’t need God, and that we’re better off without God.

How can we fight with such corruptive and destructive thinking, philosophies and attitudes?
What powerful weapon do we have at our disposal?

We have the Bible, the word of God!

As the word of God, what beneficial things can the Bible do for us? (Read 2 Timothy 3:16-17)  Here we are told that the Scriptures equip us for every good work, they can help us to deal with anything that comes our way.

Further benefits of daily Bible reading and meditation are mentioned in Psalm 1:1-3. What are some of the benefits from daily Bible reading and meditation mentioned here? Doing that will increase our happiness and delight, protect us from misguided thinking, attitudes and conduct , and help us to lead productive, successful, and satisfying lives.

So here

are some questions for you! When do you do your daily Bible reading and meditation? Do you do it in the morning, during the day, or in the evening? How have you benefited from doing so?

No doubt you have benefited from the encouragement, reminders, and spiritual direction!
Why is daily Bible reading and meditation so beneficial? The answer is found in John 17:17 where it states: “Your word is truth.”

What does it mean to you when you think about that Scripture?

It means that whatever is found within the pages of the Bible originates with God and that it is the absolute truth.

What is found within the Bible is a sure guide in our lives. It tells us the truth about the past, the present and the future.

So let us make sure that each day we focus on what is truly important. Let us read the Bible daily and let us meditate on the different facets of the truth and let us make sure to do it daily!
