Why is it that we cannot be independent? Can we be independent? Are we made to be independent?
A human baby is born into the world. If abandoned, what chances does it have for survival? Practically none! It cannot care for itself. Without nurturing, it would shortly die.
We are designed and made to be dependent. We are dependent on our parents or others to nurture us so that we can be given what we need to grow.
No matter how much growing we do, we will always be dependent. We are not self-sustaining. We do not have what it takes to keepon living without outside forces. We always need air, water, nourishment, sunshine and a host of other needs to survive and to thrive.
If it is the case that we need help to survive physically, why would it be any different spiritually?
Most of the problems we face are not really of a physical nature but of a spiritual nature. Let’s illustrate it. There are thousands of people that die from lack of food every day.
No! The problem exists because of human selfishness and greed. Many people are overweight because of overeating. Much food is thrown in the garbage because we have too much. The problem is not physical, it is spiritual.
We need moral and spiritual guidance. We are dependent on God for this. (See Jeremiah 10:23)
So, we cannot be independent. We are dependent at every angle. Why not go on a search for the right knowledge about God. Why not go on a search for the right wisdom about God. Why not go on a search for the right understanding about God. If we do so and ask his help, he just might listen and give us the guidance we need to eventually see a solution to all problems!
