Can anyone in this world be trusted these days? What do you think?
Have you ever heard someone say about another person: “I can trust that person with my life” because they had proven time and again to be trustworthy. No doubt there are such people and you may know some people who are trustworthy, even to the point of trusting them with your life. However when you study human nature and history, one has to wonder if anybody can be totally trusted?
The Bible book of Romans 3:4 makes the statement that the only one who is completely trustworthy is Godand that every human might turn out to be a liar.
Many people have been betrayed by a close intimate friend. Jesus Christ was betrayed by one of his close friends, Judas Iscariot. So it seems the course of wisdom to be careful and cautious as to whom we trust.
We see more and more child abuse. Can child caretakers be trusted? Can teachers be trusted? Can clergymen be trusted? Can sport coaches be trusted? One definitely has to wonder
There is so much cheating these days. Can a husband be trusted? Can a wife be trusted? Can a friend be trusted? I wish I could say yes, but again there is a need for watchfulness and caution, especially with sexual diseases running rampant.
2 Timothy 3:1-5 warns that in the “last days” the times and conditions would be critical and some of the reasons mentioned are that people would be untrustworthy, they would lack self-control, they would be brutal and would be betrayers, etc.
Many other Bible prophecies identify our times as the “last days.” The time is getting nearer for the Almighty God to cleanse the earth of wickedness.
So until God goes into action for the big clean-up, it is wise to be careful and cautious as to whom we trust. This is sound advice for the times we live in!
