I remember pacing the floor of the hospital awaiting the birth of my grandson. What a joyous occasion when finally the baby was born.
I also remember with sadness and pain, during the ice storm of Jan 1998, when we lost a child due to a miscarriage.
We rejoice when a child is born and we are stricken with sadness when even an unborn child dies because we view life as a precious gift from God. To many a life is a life no matter how old. From the moment of conception it is a life and it has the right tolive and be protected just like anyone else.
For many it very hard to understand, in fact it’s incomprehensible, that people would deliberately murder every year, some 50 million unborn children by abortion, which amounts to about 137,000 per day or three every two seconds.
How could we explain God’s view of abortion to a person who feels that a woman has a right to decide on matters affecting her own body?
How can we convince people that the taking of the life of an unborn child is murder plain and simple?
It is not just the discarding of an unwanted piece of tissue but the killing of a precious life. To God a life is a life from the moment of conception. Please look up these Bible verses and meditate on the following questions.
Exodus 21:22, 23... How do these verses show that an unborn child isa life?
Psalm 139:13, 16... How do these verses show that the embryo or a fetus a life?
Psalm 127:3... How does God feel about the fruitage of the belly or womb?
Can you see from these verses that God views even an unborn life as a gift to be cherished?
Think of a mother that changed her mind about an abortion and now looks at her child. Think about your mother aborting you or my mother aborting me. They could have but are we not thankful they didn’t?
When we get on a bus, does the bus driver or the owner of the bus have the right to harm us or should he rather do all in his power to protect the precious cargo that he carries?
A mother that carries a child has the same responsibility, not to harm but to ensure the safe delivery of this precious little one.
Truly we cherish our own life. Are we not glad that our parents did not abort and kill us? May we help as many as possible to view the life of the unborn as a precious gift to be cherished! Let us help as many as possible to have God’s view on this matter!
