We sometimes hear of people killing other people in the name of God. Many wars are even fought in the name of God and everyone is praying to God for victory. Does this concept make any sense? Why would God want us to kill one another?
Isn’t God a God of love and wouldn’t He want us to love one another? Think of a father that has two children, would he want them to kill one another? Wouldn’t he prefer that they get along and solve their differences in a peaceful way?
If God wanted someone dead would he need us todo it? Isn’t He almighty?
Did Jesus Christ advocate hatred, killing and war? Or, did Jesus Christ advocate love?
With the coming of Jesus Christ, there was a fundamental change in the way God’s servants and followers would do things. They were no longer to kill for any reason.
Jesus Christ stated that we should love our neighbors as ourselves and that we should even love our enemies. Those two commandments do not
That may leave room for others killing true Christians. While others may kill us, we do not kill them. What happened to Jesus? What happened to Peter? What happened to Paul?
We hope that our love and different way of life might change their conduct. If someone should kill us, it is not the end, for the God who created life can recreate our life in a different world.
What kind of Christian would we be if we only believed in this life? Was Jesus not killed but also raised to life again?
Yes, there are some that believe that they are killing in the name of God. But how does that make sense? Can they really be Christians? It does make one wonder, doesn’t it?
