Have you ever had the scary thought that your religion might be all wrong? With thousands of religions, what makes one think that theirs is right? Could it be wrong?
What would make a religion right or wrong?
A well-respected man named Jesus once made a profound statement that would enlighten us on the subject of a right religion. The statement is found in Matthew 7:15-20 which you might want to read in your own Bible.
Basically, he stated that there would be false prophets or people misleading other people. They would on the outside camouflage themselves as sheep by falsifying what theyreally are. However, inside they would be wolves, wanting to harm others. Then he made a comparison between a tree that produces good fruit and a tree that produces bad fruit.
It is the same with religion as it is with a fruit tree. If a religion produces good fruit, good people then it is a good one but if it produces bad fruit then it is a bad one.
Let’s make a check of our religion and see what kind of fruitage it produces. Let’s ask ourselves a few thought-provoking questions?
What kind of people is my religion made of? What kind of people does my religion produce?Does it produce good people? Does it produce good husbands, good wives, good neighbors? Does it promote love and respect of other people, even if they have a different religion, come from a different country, and have a different color skin? If everybody was in my religion would the world be a much better place? If the answer to these questions is yes then we are in a good religion!
Let’s go a little deeper, under what it might appear to be.
Is stealing wrong? If we say yes, then do people in my religion steal from other people, the government of from other countries? Is killing wrong? If we say yes, do people of my religion kill other people? Is smoking, cheating on one’s mate, homosexuality bad? Then what does my religion say about such things?
So, if you ever get that scary thought of whether your religion is right or wrong then just think about these different points. The religion cannot be wrong if everything is right about it!
