We see a child spot a candy from the garbage. The child gleefully picks it up and is about to put it in its mouth. Why does an alarm ring in our brain and we quickly shout; “don’t put that in your mouth, it’s filthy!” Why do we stop them from putting something in their mouth that they think will bring them pleasure?
Why do we discourage a child from putting something filthy in their mouths? Isn’t it because we are concerned with their health and welfare? Then why in the name of sensibleness do we as adults not follow ourown good judgment when it comes to other things that we deliberately put in our mouths?
Are there other things that one should not put in the mouth? Can you think of some?
What about cigarettes? Should they be put cigarettes in the mouth?
Would we as adults pick up a piece of food from the garbage and put it into our mouth? Then why do we smoke and give a bad example to
What about junk food? Should junk food be put in one’s mouth?
Why do we pay good money for junk food when we know that it will harm our health? We not only buy it for ourselves but we also buy it for our children. Again, it doesn’t make much sense when we know better.
Let us not be like children that do not know any better. Let us grow up and become wise and be good examples to children and to other adults when it comes to what we put in our mouth. Definitely, cigarettes and junk food should not be put in the mouth!
