Is it possible that under scrutiny and in an unbiased, unprejudiced court, that atheism could actually be termed a religion? Yes, atheism is a religion and they worship not one God but many gods. Absolutely! What gods do atheists worship?
What is a god?
A god is someone or something that we given devotion to or that we devote time and attention. Check the dictionary and see that a god can be a person or a thing. Religions can either worship one God or worship many gods. We can worship objects like the sun or the moon. We can also view ourselvesas a god and actually worship oneself. We can worship men or women. We can worship ideas.
So what gods do atheists worship?
They worship science, evolution, men or women whose ideas or manner of thinking they idolize.
While the Bible is about the worship of a God called Jehovah, it also recognizes a plethora of gods, termed false gods, though to the worshipers of these gods, they are viewed as god or gods.
Psalm 100:3 (Young's Literal Translation) “Know that Jehovah He [is] God, He made us, and we are His, His people -- and the flock of His pasture.”
A careful study of 1 Corinthians 4:4 and related verses shows that Satan the Devil is not only worshiped as a god but that right now he is running and misleading the world.
The Egyptians in the Bible had many gods such as pharaoh, the Nile river, etc. The Japanese people during WW2 viewed their emperor as a god.
Philippians 3:19 shows that some people at that time made a god out of their belly and so even a desire such as eating can become a god.
So in this light, atheists worship many gods, depending on their own preferences of choice as to the god or gods each individual or group worships or views with admiration and veneration. Without a doubt, atheism is a religion and atheists worship a god or gods.
