Armageddon, The Final War Between Good And Evil: Is It Closer Than Many Think?

Armageddon or Har-Magedon has been described as the final war between good and evil. Since this word originates from the Bible, what does the Bible say about Armageddon and could Armageddon be close at this time?

What is Armageddon?

The word Armageddon appears only once in the Bible and it is found in Revelation 16:16. The surrounding verses show that the dragon (Satan the Devil), the demons (Satan’s angels) and all the kings (governments) of the earth are involved in a war fought against God the Almighty. In such a war it is logical who the victor will be.

Other portions of the

Bible give us more details about the final war between good and evil. (See Jeremiah 25:31-33, Ezekiel 38) Evil will be obliterated. God will triumph. Wicked ones will be eliminated. The Righteous will be protected by God and the meek will inherit the earth.

Why must Armageddon be very close at this time?

A few developments show that Armageddon cannot be too far at this time. In Matthew chapter 24, Jesus gave us all the signs that would announce the closeness of Armageddon. Revelation 11:18 points to another significant sign! It speaks of the destroying or ruining of the planet earth. Mankind is doing that through pollution and the use of nuclear power.

The recent Japan earthquake and other accidents have sent radioactive contamination into the soil and water. There are also the constant threats that some nations, with unstable or desperate rulers, might be ready to use nuclear bombs in warfare.

For the first time in human history, all life on earth is threatened with a real possibility of extinction. It is no longer science fiction! These events show that Armageddon must be very close.

How will Armageddon effect our future?

We have a vital decision to make and time is running out fast. Since mankind, as a whole, seems hell-bent to kill, ruin and destroy: we have to act as individuals. Each of us will

reap what we sow! As individuals, will we continue to do evil things? As individuals, will we continue to pollute and ruin the earth? As individuals does God view as part of the problem or part of the solution? Or will we show God by our daily living that we love his ways? What we do, day in and day out, will decide our future!

Does Armageddon mean the end of the world?

Yes and no! It all depends on what we mean by the world. Do we mean the end of all wicked people of the earth? If so, then yes! Do we mean the end of all life and the end of the earth? Then, no! Both Mathew and Revelation show that there will be survivors of the war of Armageddon.

Since the word Armageddon originates in the Bible, would it not be wise to start studying the Bible in earnest and learn what we need to do to be Armageddon survivors? The Bible is the most translated book. It is easily available and in a language all can understand. There are millions of people that are ready to help sincere seekers to understand the Bible and answer questions.

What will the future be like after Armageddon?

Armageddon will clear the way for the earth to become a paradise like the original Garden of Eden. Armageddon will clear the way for all who love God and his ways to have the possibility to live forever in a clean earth, devoid of pollution and anything that might threaten life and planet. A glorious future is ahead after Armageddon and thanks to Armageddon!
